Happy parallel prophecies for the Shunammite woman (this Sunday’s reading) and for Sarah (centuries prior)
“Later Elisha asked, “Can something be done for her?” His servant Gehazi answered, “Yes! She has no son, and her husband is getting on in years.” Elisha said, “Call her.”
When the woman had been called and stood at the door, Elisha promised, “This time next year you will be fondling a baby son.” (2 Kings 4:14-16)
Sarah and the Three Mysterious Visitors
“Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked Abraham. “There in the tent,” he replied. One of them* said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and Sarah will then have a son.” Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent, just behind him.”(Genesis 18:9-10)
